John Broomfield has just been made a Fellow of the Concrete Society. He chaired the joint committee that wrote Concrete Society Technical Report 73. A guidance document and specification for cathodic protection of steel in concrete which supersedes Concrete Society Technical Reports 36 and 37 due for publication imminently.

Since John Broomfield has elected convenor of CEN TC 219 WG2 in September 2010 he has piloted the revised draft BS EN ISO 12696 through to final ISO vote due in October 2011. This new standard will cover impressed current and galvanic cathodic protection of atmospherically exposed, buried and submerged reinforced concrete structures. The committee will now work on upgrading CEN TS 14038-1 on realkalisation to full EN status. |
